The French International School of
Hong Kong - Chai Wan Primary School Campus
Chai Wan, Hong Kong
The site was occupied by the Meng Tak Catholic School (all in good quality masonry) since the 1950s before it was re-granted to French International School by the Government in Oct 2010 for a new primary school with the addition of 18 classrooms and other facilities including a library, a computer room, a music room and activity rooms. The new complex consists of 4 main parts: the original central masonry block and courtyard, the North Annex, the South Annex and New Annex. The design objective was to pay tribute to the character / atmosphere of the existing historic / religious setting and design the new annexes to fit into the context with little disruption as possible, whilst not being ostentatious.
Renovation of the existing building:
2-storeys North Annex and South Annex
1-storey masonry building
1-storey New Annex (with canteen and classrooms) and Roof Garden
3,626 m2 GFA
