Marinella

Aberdeen, Hong Kong

Occupying a prime site at the waterfront in the serene south of Hong Kong Island, the residential development comprises 6 towers giving a total of 411 units which vary from smaller apartments (about 75m2), duplex units at typical floors, penthouse units to garden houses. The towers are configured with the view to maximizing sea views for occupiers as well as daylight penetration. In order to reduce excessive solar heat gain in summer, high-performance IGUs were specified for the curtain wall façade, together with balconies and other forms of sun-breakers. The sustainability initiatives at Marinella was rewarded by receiving the Hong Kong’s first provisional BEAM Plus Platinum residential project. This implies that if set against the baseline assumptions the project should help save up to 460,000kWh of electricity annually, and reduce carbon dioxide emission by 385 tonnes, which equals to around 16,772 trees required to absorb the carbon footprint.
