Trade and Industry Tower

Kai Tak, Hong Kong

The complex consists of two distinct elements of different built forms: a 22-storey office tower for 13 end-user government units and a low-rise multi-purpose community hall designed for use by the local District Council. The organic form of the Community Hall with its cascading green roof suggests that it has grown out of the terrain. By contrast, the office tower adopts a rectilinear geometry to counteract the free-flowing form of the Community Hall. Visual interest is enhanced by slicing each tower elevation across with vertical strips of greenery.
