Pleased to share that this year 6 of Wong Tung’s projects received the World Design Awards 2022. An annual award by The Architecture Community. The World Design Awards recognized outstanding ideas that redefine architectural design through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, along with studies on globalization, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution.

The 6 awarded Wong Tung projects are respectively:

Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex – Awarded Category: Institutional Building Built (Winner)
The new Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex, TDVEC, is the latest construction of Hong Kong to carry out vehicle examination by Transport Department. The TDVEC project is a multi-storey functional building which comprises 30 inspection lanes with other vehicle inspection and testing facilities.

Shanghai Nanxiang Incity Mega – Awarded Category: Commercial Built (Winner)
MEGA INCITY, a gigantic 340,000 sqm retail project in Shanghai, designated as a whole day attraction with retail, entertainment, variety dinning, sports and eco-education experience. It is located at Nanxiang, at the northwest corner of Shanghai only 3km from the Outer Ring and 18km Downtown. It is one of the famous historic and cultural town in Shanghai while being a newly developed population centre at the same time.

K.Summit – Awarded Category: Mixed-Use Building Built (Winner)
K.Summit has integrated the cruise liner theme into both architectural and landscape design which creates a recognisable identity with Kai Tak planning. The design organises difference zones for different activities based on the most recent cruise liner design and insert greenery spaces and water features to connect all zones together.

Advanced Manufacturing Centre – Awarded Category: Institutional Building Built (Runner-up)
Runner-Up of World Design Awards 2022. Commissioned by Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and mastermind of the design by Wong Tung & Partners Ltd. as Lead Architectural Consultant and Nikken Sekkei Ltd. as Industrial Architectural Consultant, the development of AMC is a world-class project to support re-industrialization and commercialization of innovations in Hong Kong.
