Prince of Wales Hospital Phase 2
(Stage 1) Redevelopment

Shatin, Hong Kong

The Prince of Wales Hospital is embarking on a pivotal phase of its ongoing campus redevelopment, with the commencement of the crucial Phase 2 Stage 1 works. This significant project will be instrumental in transforming the hospital's facilities and operations to better serve the community's evolving healthcare needs.

At the heart of this stage is the construction of a new 20-storey In-Patient Extension Block (IPEB), directly connected to the existing Main Clinical Block and Trauma Centre (MCBTC). The IPEB will consolidate the hospital's most critical and acute functions, including accident & emergency, intensive care, operating theatres, radiology, and acute inpatient wards.

Centralizing these vital facilities will optimize patient and staff workflows, eliminating the inefficiencies of the hospital's previous fragmented layout. The contemporary, purpose-built IPEB design will also align with the latest principles of patient-centered care and safety.

Complementing the new IPEB, the existing MCBTC will undergo strategic remodeling, further enhancing the overall hospital experience. Ultimately, the Phase 2 Stage 1 redevelopment is a crucial step in shaping the Prince of Wales Hospital into a modern, efficiently-organized academic health sciences center.
