In 2026, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects marks its 70th anniversary with a lecture series on the development of Hong Kong. The series examines key themes in the city’s urban growth to deepen understanding of Hong Kong’s urban evolution.

The finale features our former Chairman, Mr. Edward S.T. Ho, FHKIA, SBS, OBE, JP (HKIA Gold Medalist 2025), and his captivating talk as he looks back on the 50-year history of private residential building development in Hong Kong. There is also a rare, forward-looking dialogue on Hong Kong’s future between two generations of HKIA Presidents and Legislative Council Members, with Ms. Julia Lau and HKIA Vice-President Mr. Allen Poon.

Mr. Ho has shared valuable insights on landmark projects that helped meet post-war housing demands and foster the formation of a middle class, including Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Tai Koo Shing, Chi Fu Fa Yuen, Discovery Bay, and more.
