The Qingdao International Beer City project, serving as the main venue for the Qingdao International Beer Festival, is a pivotal node in Laoshan District’s transformation into Qingdao’s sub-center, blending tradition and modernity. The expansive project site covers 227,000 sqm with a total GFA of 807,000 sqm including the Beer Festival Square, shopping center, a five-star hotel, office buildings, and more. Wong Tung is responsible for the master planning and the design of nine office tower blocks. Drawing inspiration from Qingdao’s sea and mountain landscape, the project features three towers descending gradually from south to north, resembling the skyline of a mountain range’s main peak. Surrounding towers emulate encircling mountains. The strategic placement of the towers enhances landscape design, creating spaces that are both tranquil and vibrant, with a human-scale, user-friendly environment. The design integrates festivals, leisure, shopping, business, and office functions, themed around the Oktoberfest. The open plaza space frequently hosts various forms of activities, injecting vitality into the cityscape.
