HKUST officially marked the launch of its new medical school project with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Medical Education and Research Complex on April 28, 2026. This initiative will establish Hong Kong’s third medical school. The ceremony was officiated by The Hon. John K.C. Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR and HKUST Chancellor, together with Professor Nancy Ip, President of HKUST, and other government and university leaders. The event signalled the start of construction for the school’s interim facilities at the Clear Water Bay campus.

Upon completion, the complex—an eight-storey, state-of-the-art facility—will provide advanced spaces and resources to support medical education and research. Construction is scheduled to be completed in mid-2028, with the expectation that the first cohort of students will be admitted at that time. We are honoured to participate in this exciting project and we are delighted to collaborate again with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and the rest of the consultants team!
