Li Ka Shing Tower -
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Hung Hom, Hong Kong
Phase 6 of the University serves both as its administrative centre and creative icon on the campus. The design was conceived as 3 geometric forms colliding with each other, with the “drum” at the top housing the executive floors for the Senate, a Council Chamber as well as an exclusive club for the University’s senior staff. The pink façade spandrels finished in facing brick was designed to pay tribute to the predominant colour palette of the campus. The main bulk of the building also houses classrooms, a central information centre and a computer centre. Attached to one side at the base is a 2-storey annex building which houses lecture theatres, classrooms and an exhibition centre.
