The Stellar

North Point, Hong Kong

The Stellar is located in the heart of Hong Kong Island at North Point. Situated on Chun Yeung Street, it is nestled in a traditional mixed residential and commercial area, offering a convenient location with access to vibrant lifestyle experiences, public transportation, restaurants, and shops.

This medium-sized boutique hotel features a total of 164 guestrooms and amenities such as a gym and a common pantry. The G/F (L1) entrance foyer is conveniently located opposite the Chun Yeung Street tramway stop. A distinctive double-story lounge area stands out amidst the hustle and bustle of the Chun Yeung Street market on 1/F (L2). The reception area is elevated to 1/F (L2) and directly connected to a common pantry, providing a casual sitting and dining area for all guests. The typical guestrooms face Chun Yeung Street, with two guestrooms strategically placed at the east and west ends to optimize views of Central and Lei Yue Mun area. The gym and VIP suites are located on the topmost floors, offering guests commanding views of Victoria Harbour.

Drawing inspiration from the history of sugar refinery businesses near Chun Yeung Street, the hotel's facade design incorporates the concept of Sugar Cubes and Sugar Crystals. The facade design features repeated cube-shaped geometries, resembling sugar cubes. Two prominent cubes serve as the main entrance on G/F (L1) and the distinct double-storey lobby lounge on 1/F (L2). This architectural language continues throughout the hotel tower, breaking down the monolithic glass facade into shimmering cube-shaped fragments that stand out in the local neighbourhood.

The hotel tower aims to capture the glistening effect of sugar crystals under light. The glass facade, together with three-dimensional architectural features, creates subtle reflections and shadows. This dynamic interplay of light and shadow adds another layer of expression to the building exterior, captivating the eyes of passersby as they walk from one side of the street to the other.

The guestroom interior design also emphasizes the cube geometry, utilizing furniture and feature light design. The primary goal is to create a soothing and calming atmosphere for the guests. Natural colours and patterns, such as natural wood/timber, are used in the guestroom entrance foyer and bedroom area. Soft fabrics are selected for loose furniture like stools and sofas to enhance the sense of softness and harmony. The guestroom design features a focal point design with a juxtaposing feature wall and textured paint that resembles light shimmers, completing the journey of the "sugar crystal" theme from exterior to interior.

The 1/F (L2) Lounge and Common Pantry showcase a double storey Lounge with a 7m tall glass wall, creating a strong visual connection between the interior and exterior. The Lounge serves multiple functions as a waiting area, dining space, and social hub. The interior design features lounge sofas, coffee tables near the reception area, bar tables, dining tables, and chairs to cater to diverse needs and provide privacy. A well-designed common pantry is equipped with six self-serving cooking stations, providing ample preparation areas, induction hobs, exhaust hoods, and steam ovens. The goal is to offer guests a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable cooking experience during their stay. The gym exudes energy and positivity, featuring a mirror-finish ceiling, vinyl carpet wall pattern, and light-coloured plastic laminate. Natural lighting on the mirror ceiling enhances the brightness and amplifies the space in the gym room.
