Teaching-Research Complex
The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Tai Po, Hong Kong

The Teaching-Research Complex is a ten-storey high building located at the northern part of the CUHK Campus in Tai Po Area 39, providing around 29,340sqm in net operational floor area. The Faculty of Medicine of CUHK will be the major user of the building. The Complex will provide additional teaching and research facilities on campus for the increasing enrolments of medical and nursing students to alleviate the severe shortage of allied healthcare professionals. The building consists of core functional areas such as research & teaching laboratories, offices, lecture theatres, classrooms, supporting amenities and car parking spaces.

The Complex is designed to maximize educational, collaborative and research potential across the entire building by integrating efficient layouts and adaptable spaces. The layout and design are strategically planned to provide a diverse range of multi-level communal spaces to facilitate informal meetings, shared spaces, and common areas where students and researchers can gather, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on projects from different disciplines. This would foster both interdisciplinary engagement and a strong sense of community among various users.
